This may well be the answer for those, like me, who prefer their beer dispensed via a beer engine, but want to minimise beer loss due to the risk of it spoiling in the engine if left for a day or so by exposure to the air.

I think I shall be ordering a couple to replace the swan-necks on mine. :)
And this would probably stop a lot of the hoppiness being flung out of the beer by the swan neck. Nice find hotmog.

Hi all, wondered if anyone could id these beer line sizes? I know the 2 larger ones are 3/8, but cant figure out if the two smaller ones are 3/16 or 5/16, cheers.

Cheers aleman, youre right, i looked on hop and grape website and they sell beer line but whats useful is that they have the sizes in imperial as well as metric so found out that 5/16 is 8mm od, 3/16 is 5mm od, and 3/8 is 10mm od. simple task then was to measure them amd yes 5/16 it is. Cheers.

Gone are the ubiqitous swan-neck spouts on my twin Angram beer engine. In their place are a pair of traditional brass rollover taps (stainless steel lined) with the all-important on/off switch to prevent the beer in the pipe and beer engine spoiling due to exposure to air, and hence minimise wastage.

They were not cheap, but the catalogue picture (see the link in my earlier post) really doesn't do them justice: these are very heavy, solid brass, and I have to say I am very impressed. :D

After some time, can you tell me if these roll overs work?
I bought two to use with my Engine, but it will need a fair bit of modification to use as there is little space in the top of the engine to simply replace the swan neck with the roll over.
Also, what model Engine have you got there, and did you mod it?

Yes, I'm very happy with them. The beer engine is an Angram twin pull Compact Cabinet hand pump. I bought it for £20 at a car boot sale quite a few years ago. It had crappy badly worn turned wooden handles and was missing the bottom fascia panel, so I replaced the handles with a pair of china Wade hunting scene ones, and sourced a new fascia panel and drip tray holders direct from Angram. When I subsequently decided to replace the s/s swan-neck spouts, I contacted Angram to see if they could supply rollover taps as an option, but they couldn't - in fact they said they weren't compatible. I was not to be deterred, however, so I ordered them from Harry Mason. I specified a smooth, rather than barbed, 3/8" s/s outlet tube so I could attach the beer line via a JG push-fitting.

Fitting them was fairly straightforward; they come with angled wooden blocks, so the taps can be mounted at the correct angle. However there is not a great deal of space between the back of the top fascia panel and the pump cylinder housings, so I had to use an adjustable spanner to turn the s/s outlet tube around 90 degs to give adequate clearance. I also had to enlarge the mounting holes in the top fascia panel to accommodate the wider barrel of the rollover taps. Here is a photo showing the back connections, from which, hopefully, all should become clear: :)

I can't remember exactly, but I think they cost over £100 for the pair inc postage.

I notice there's a set of 4 vintage chrome-plated taps of similar design currently listed on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Pub-B ... 43bbd8dae8.

Three of them appear to have the original metal sparklers, and one has a broken tap push. Might be worth a punt.

They have done the rounds many times and not sold. I just bought a pair on ebay for £18 isn. Stamped HM, presumably Harry. Air tight, stainless lined, well greased up and fully working. The next task is to fit them to the pump, within the limited space
