Re: Which Kit?
I've never heard a bad word said of BruPak, but nor have I ever tried one. I found my niche and I'm happy where I am. If ye like Stout? Try Coopers!
That aside; Coopers kits are getting a Great press, regardless.
Ones to avoid? * Cough! * Ye might want to run a search on " Muntons / Stuck Fermentation "

Re: Which Kit?
Hi, if you like bitter try Brewmakers Victorian Bitter, for a sweet cider I recommend Finlandia cider, a mix of apple and pear. Tom Caxton kits are also good, as well as John Bull kits and these are available in a number of different beers/lagers. Online home brew shops sometimes give a description of each kit (sometimes being the operative word) Milltop.co.uk is one that comes to mind. try some kit review sites too.
Re: Which Kit?
Another vote for Coopers here. Cheap but decent - and always seem to ferment out properly without too much fuss. IPA a particularly good one. Avoid the stout though, it's shite*
Along with many others, I've had to battle to get Woodfordes/Muntons kits to ferment properly, although the beer was nice in the end!
* Not really, just testing to see if Ditch will bite...
