Ok, I brew and condition my brews in the dining room. Then move it into the nice cold garage for storage.
The thing is, the garage will get very warm in the summer, prob 25-30C. Now initially this didn't bother me as i have frozen pint pots to drink out of, but am worried this may impact the taste.
Would this be the case, or can I keep storing my brews in the garage through the summer months?
Storage Query
Re: Storage Query
Not ideal when you consider pub cellars target a temperature range 10-13C. Your brew needs somewhere cooler to absorb CO2. I would try to find somewhere cooler in the house in the summer.Big Al wrote:

Re: Storage Query
Does this mean then that the bottles/containers are liable to explode in those temperatures?
Not entirely sure at the min where I would be able to store the brews I have on the go, as they amount to
quite a few bottles and her indoors might not be impressed with the dining room turning into my beer celar

Re: Storage Query
Following a revelation by Martial Ant i now store all my bottled beer under a loose floorboard in the lounge, easily accessible and a constant 10 degrees or so

Re: Storage Query
Where do you put all the dead bodies though? Or is that just me?kenny850 wrote:Following a revelation by Martial Ant i now store all my bottled beer under a loose floorboard in the lounge, easily accessible and a constant 10 degrees or so

Re: Storage Query
You could always try the wet towel trick. Drape a cold wet towel over your keg/bottles or even stand them in trays of water. This will knock several degrees off the ambient temp but will mean you need to change the water tray and re-soak the towels.
Re: Storage Query
Thats not a bad idea. I store my beers in platic storage crates so I can fill them up with water.
If I happen to have some beers out uncovered though. Would the heat have a detromental effect on the beer?
Or will be it ok once moved to a cooler place prior to drinking?
