Youngs Cider Kit

Post by robbo79 » Mon Jan 12, 2009 2:52 pm

Hi all, im attempting the cider kit to the 32pint / 18 litre mix!!!....

Now the question i wanna know is as like the beer kit i bottled it from another bucket after adding 80g sugar to the bucket.

now for the cider can i use the same technique? the instructions say... for bottling add 1 tsp to 0.6 l bottle, or 56g to a barrel??

how much sugar do i need to put in the bucket before bottling?? 56g??? or would it be 150g taking it that 1tsp is 5g? to make up the 18litres?

Please help me in understanding this?

If you are bottling and want to bulk prime then you need to add the equivilent of 1tsp per pint to give a god fizz to your cider.
The 56g weight is for use in a plastic pressure barrel. No point in adding any more to a barrel as they tend to have a pressure relief valve which blows at 8 to 10psi and will not allow a high level of carbonation.
I hope this helps :)
