Hi All
Have performed some searches on Jim's and am now confused as to the procedure.
Boiling the muslin bag and marbles/copper lump are standard but the two methods I have come across are:
1) add the hop sock to the FV a couple of days after fermentation has started and dispose of when kegging/bottling.
2) add the hop sock to the keg and leave it in during conditioning and drinking.
Option two obviously cannot be used if you are bottling instead but which is (not "right") preferable?

Re: Dry Hopping Q
Im making a home brew for my 21 and want to make it a bit special so was wondering about dry hopping. I have two questions
1, wot type of hops would you recommend to go with a woodfordes wherry?
2, wot amount of hops would you add?

Thanks Chris!Chris-x1 wrote:1) would be too early, the hop aroma can be lost with the escaping co2, if you were to put it into the primary after 5 days and leave for another 5 days then imo that would be more appropriate.
2) better but I personally would fish it out after a week or so and definately after 2 as you can get grassy flavours which aren't so nice when dry hopping.
Experiment with timings but i'd start with 7 days and work your way up to avoid dissapointment. You can always add more but you can't take it away.
