Calling all Lancaster, Preston, Blackpool Fylde Area Brewers

Post by Aleman » Mon Feb 02, 2009 8:44 pm

Following a discussion after the Northern CBA meet this weekend I was wondering if there are any brewers in the above region that would like to meet up for a drink/brewing bullshit session at a pub somewhere near a railway station.

Suggestions welcome . . . . . OI keep them clean!!

This is a possible for me depending what day of the week it is. I have relatives in Garstang so I can always go there afterwards . . .

Crown Inn, Stockport?

Sod off with Stockport. How about Walkabout in Blackpool. Or even.......Funny Girls.

I'll keep watching for pub place ideas. Im not promising anything. Full time dad now ive won full custody of my son. :D Got commitments now these days. But yeah i'd like to come along.
What would you all do though if i come out with stuff that would get a thread locked/deleted? Would you laugh along or would you make me stand in the corner?

I'd love to come and meet you Tony, but I'd like to visit your brewery even more.

MA, you live very close to my office, pm me next time you brew and I'll come up with some urgent appointments.

It strikes me that Preston has the advantage of being equally inconvenient to everybody and very easy to get to, even I can get a train direct from Arnside, so the Black Horse in Preston gets my vote, if we're lucky they'll have Old Tom on draught like the last time I was in.

Day of the week is no problem as I labour under the ludicrously generous Local Authority regime. It works out at about 66 days if you take all your flexi, although flexi isn't really leave as you have to put the hours in.

Due to the state of my marriage I do need a long lead in time though.

Oh, and we'd need to find a handy park bench near by as they probably wouldn't like us sampling each others samples in the pub.

I wasn't thinking like immediately :D (I had a pass out this weekend, its not likely I'd get another  )

MA, of course you are welcome . . . we'd just deny you were with us anyway :=P

While I love the Crown I was hoping to get somewhere closer to home, as most of the NCBA meets are in the Stockport / Yorkshire / East Lancs area and trains can be/are a problem.

Walkabout in Blackpool . . . . I kind of like my health to be honest, and most of the pubs are pretty dire fizzy pop places . . . The Saddle is well out of the centre but has changed out of all recognition, and has nowhere near the range or quality of beers it used to.

Preston sounds ideal for a lot of people, and having dropped a couple of guys off at the Black Horse on Saturday I think that gets my vote . . .

Time wise, I have to be in for when my son gets dropped off from school so unless we go for 16th-20th Feb weekdays are out for me. What about from 5ish on a Saturday?

Is this meet still going ahead as i can get a bus from where i live to Preston so wouldn`t mind coming along,
as long as it was a weekend, i`m not that familliar with Preston though i do know where the train station is.
Anyways i`ll keep checking back to see if there is any progress with this.
