finlandia pear and apple cider instructions
finlandia pear and apple cider instructions
just got this kit today and the instructions are not in english(makes sense as im guessing its from finland). ive done a couple of beer kits but never a cider kit and am not sure if the process is the same? does any one have the english instructions? or is it just a case of adding the extract and sugar to the f.v with some hot water to dissolve and then topping up with cold and then pitching some re-hydrated yeast and letting it ferment?-how much sugar for priming? not sure what temp is good?i think it says 20-25 c? i think i can work out the amount of sugar to add and the amount of litres to brew on a chart in the instructions which tells you what percentage it would be, but wouldnt mind some confirmation. would be great if anyone could help,
sam

Re: finlandia pear and apple cider instructions
Never done this kit before, but as a general rule most things are standard with extract kit's, as you state dissolve the extract and sugar then top up to desired level, 20 to 22/23c is a good fermenting temp, add the yeast hydrated or not it makes little difference, ferment out, allow a few days to let some sediment drop and bottle priming with 1 tsp per pint, leave in a warm room for 7 to 10 day's then to a cooler room to condition for a month or so.sam c wrote:just got this kit today and the instructions are not in english(makes sense as im guessing its from finland). ive done a couple of beer kits but never a cider kit and am not sure if the process is the same? does any one have the english instructions? or is it just a case of adding the extract and sugar to the f.v with some hot water to dissolve and then topping up with cold and then pitching some re-hydrated yeast and letting it ferment?-how much sugar for priming? not sure what temp is good?i think it says 20-25 c? i think i can work out the amount of sugar to add and the amount of litres to brew on a chart in the instructions which tells you what percentage it would be, but wouldnt mind some confirmation. would be great if anyone could help,

Re: finlandia pear and apple cider instructions
cheers chris, thats what i wanted to know, any idea of the temps to brew at for the yeast provided with these kits? i know that cider is usually brewed quite low, but i think i can make out from the instructions 20-27 c which sounds a little high. would sticking to 20-21 c mark sound good?Chris-x1 wrote:The basic instructions are mix with water and add yeast.
Most instructions will say to add the syrup and a kilo of sugar to the fermenter, rinse out the tin with boiling water and add another kettle full of water. This does 2 things, firstly it helps the sticky syrup and sugar mix well, secondly it helps make sure that the temperature of the unfermented cider isn't too cold for when you add the yeast (which you can just sprinkle over the surface).
Re: finlandia pear and apple cider instructions
It would take me ages to copy out the instructions.

The guy who I buy off suggests this.

the kit cost about £12, havent brewed it yet so dont know how it tastes-24 litres but i think you have the option of doing either 24,20 or 16 litres depending on strength and body.
