Youngs bitter & Beer enhancer

Post by crafty john » Tue Feb 17, 2009 7:29 pm

Hi all
I have had a youngs bitter kit with mutons beerkit enhancer on the go for seven days, in the instructions it states that the final garvity reading should be 1.006, the reading is actualy 1.010 and I think it has stopped fermenting.

How long after fementation is complete can I leave it in the FV before bottling?

Cheers

You can leave it safely for up to about 20 days before you bottle .Some have left it longer without problems but you do risk contamination the longer you leave it.

10 days and/or stable gravity for 3 days and it should be fine for kegging/bottling. When you add spraymalt or anything other than sugar you normally do not get as low fg as stated in the instruction. Soonit will be time to drink and enjoy it. :)

Is that cos DME gives your beer more body?

I'm sure someone wiser than me on here can explain the full reason. I think it's because spray malt is less fermentable than sugar, and yes this gives more body.
