Best Online HB Shop?

Post by Mogwyth » Tue Feb 24, 2009 12:42 am

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes.

We don't have a local HB shop, only Wilkinson's 11 miles away or a Hardware shop 20 miles away who only keeps the basics in stock and order in anything else from Ritchies catalogue, so if they don't supply it forget it. So what recommendations does anyone have for an on-line store to use, obviously service, speed of delivery and ranges stocked comes into the equation not just VFM. Mainly kits and ingredients I am thinking about here.

Cheers

Hop and Grape are very good too - don't have a link I'm afraid.

The only one I've had a bad experience with - and so have many others - is Easybrew. They won't be getting any more of my money even though they did eventualy refund me (after I'd threatened legal action). Took many weeks and lots of emails/letters/phone calls though.

Leyland (www.leylandhomebrew.com) and Hop and Grape(www.hopandgrape.co.uk) both give great service and have great stock levels of everything. Leyland give free postage on orders above about £60.

Barley Bottom (www.barleybottom.com) have great prices but a more limited stock. BB is superbly priced for hops and dry yeast and postage on these items is low. The BB grain is also well priced but the postage on the grain takes the prices above that of my local HB shop.

I've always sworn by Brewmart, but have noticed their deliveries getting a tad longer lately, still my number 1 though. =D>

I always use The Hop Shop (Hywel is fantastic) or Leyland Homebre. Both are friendly, approachable and reasonably priced.

I swtiched to these guys:
http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/

Simply because they pretty much always deliver next day. They don't promise it, but they typically do.

I use Brewmart for hardware and DME because they are cheap, Hop and Grape for grain because they have an excellent range, high turnover and cheap delivery (£2 extra will get you next day). Barleybottom for hops because they are just the best quality. I can also recommend Hop Shop and Leyland Homebrew, they are both very helpfull. For American hops (pellets) I use Craftbrewer and Candirect because they are cheap.

I am a newby but i found hop&grape good. Bought a widget world starter kit and even though it had to be sent via courier (due to it being cO2 they sent me) and next day delivery p&p was cheap.

Well packaged as well. I used them due to comments on this site.

Hi,
I've only really just started but have been planning ahead so I can build a rolling supply up and have tried a few online shops.

The best of the bunch from my experience so far is http://www.home-brew-online.com (they also have an ebay shop).
Delivery is very quick - next day so far - and the service is friendly. Delivery charges are capped to a fixed amount for an order so it pays to plan ahead. Comms are superb and you can track your delivery online. I found them on eBay and could pay with paypal making it very easy to use.

I've had some experiences online with other shops / companies where communication is poor and delivery times are not what I would expect.

It had a wheery kits in it and it was superb.
Ive not got a fav shop yet but I see from your forum that weery kits are £14.99 from www.creativewinemaking.co.uk and that seems pretty good.
