Best thermometer

I'm going to be some kit adaptation on the road to extract and then, ultimately, AG brewing. I'm looking for recommendations for the best, cost effective means of measuring the temperature of my steeping liquid. I am aware I need to keep it in the range of 67 degrees; so guys, how do you measure the temperature?

I'd go for a digital one.

I bought mine from the hop and grape a few years back,

although it's not a totally immersable probe (I can't leave it in the mash for extended periods), if I where to buy again I would probably spend a bit more and get one of these.

I think this is the type you could leave in the mash although I would check with Pat.

I've been tempted by one of these. The also have the same model but calibrated http://www.thermometersdirect.co.uk/aca ... meter.html This is priced at £43.24
Is it worth paying the extra for the calibration, and is the calibration a guarantee?

Not sure it's worth paying the extra and you would need it recalibrating every year.
