I want to make ditchs stout this weekend but need to up the alcohol. what sugar should i use and how much
i want it about 5%
i tried muscavado sugar the other day its bloody lovely, taste very hoppy (primed my EDME superbrew irish stout with it.)
it basically taste like beer or stout in grain form.
anyone made the coopers stout and chucked some of this in

Personally, as I recently mentioned else where here; I'd like to get hold of some more Raw Cane sugar (Whole Food shops sell it loose and cheaper, probably, than supermarkets).
How much? Blowed if I'd know! But I'm sure the ratio of sugar to add has been mentioned somewhere. Try a search on Sugar?

The best thing to do is use an hydrometer. You need to aim for an sg of about 1042/1044 ish and a fg of 1008 ish and you should end up with 5% or more
