Which kit is it? If it is the Woodfords Norfolk Nog kit you dont need the spraymalt as the kit is a 3kg kit. I have heards good things bout the kit but have never made it myself.

Agreed, it seems your HBS has persuaded you to buy something you don't need with this kit.
If you use the spraymalt you will change the intended taste of the brew.

hello its a woodfords norfolk nog not sure what to do with the spray malt now might just put it in and see what happens does any one think it will enhance the brew the bloke in the shop said it would take the fv up to about 5.5 i want to brew some thing with a good body to it but if any ones done this before and its turned out crap i might leave the spray malt for another kit

Save the spraymalt and add it to a cheap one tin kit, in place of sugar, such as a Geordie Mild.

Or a Coopers Dark Ale with 500 gms demerara sugar. :)

Definitely do not add the spray malt to the kit, you will just ruin or otherwise degrade a very expensive kit.

Going back to your first post, having just brewed Nog I would say it is similar in style and flavour to Old Peculier without any additions of any kind.

Cheers,

John

Maybe he sold you the spraymalt for priming ? I did a Wherry and needed 80g spraymalt to prime.

well he did say to put it in fv to make it stronger but its always a thought whats the advantage of priming with spray malt rather than sugar i think he just thought that was the best thing to do to get the finish i was looking for but im a trusting soul

Priming with spraymalt is supposed to give a nicer flavour, it's what most people seem to do round here! For a bit more body I've read that some put a little less water into the f.v, not something I'll bother doing as my Wherry was perfect with the full amount of water. Other than the usual problem with stuck fermentation.

No, priming with such a small amount of spray malt will have zero difference, we substitute sugar, or brewers sugars etc as the main sugar source for spray malt to increase body and mouth feel, no use for priming, best just using 80g of Tate and Lyle for priming.
