evening all

ive got hold of some unusual bottles off freecycle and tried capping one with me crown capper.
now it seemed fine but i just didnt have faith in it and i wondered if anyone had used corks in beer bottles with any success?

Guessing not that many will have tried it.. Generally it seems expensive and inconvenient method of dispensing given the alternatives.

Drinking - Young's Harvest Bitter
Conditioning - Coopers Australian Lager

If you were to use corks for the beer you would have to use Champagne style corks with the wire frames due to the Co2 and secondary fermentation.

I know you can buy the larger Leffe bottles with a cork and wire frame, so it has been done, whether its practical is another matter  I have enough trouble getting the standard corks into the wine bottle I don't know if I would like to try the champagne ones on two dozen bottles. But your bottles would certainly be a talking point over a nice cold popped beer. :D

Try the wine forum they may have more detailed ideas on corking.

I did it with a Milestone Crusader using couple leffe bottles and couple champagne bottles. Plastic corks & wireframes, so far seems to be working two weeks down the line
