Even with a Super Bowl party planned in the evening, I was able to crack of 40 liters of an Arkell's 3B

Here we go, hopefully these pictures are a bit different from what I just posted:

First things first. Shovel off the brewing area. You got snow, we got snow, it melted and then froze. Wonderful.

Figured out that if I crush the grains higher up I won't have to kneel in the snow. Brilliant thinking for a Sunday morning.

Here's the yeast starter ready to pitch. I used a combination of Wyeast's Irish Ale and Yorkshire ale that I'd harvested. This is also a picture of the bar back area of my future pub/brew storage room. Very much a work in progress.

OK wife stole the camera and went skating with the kids so here are a few more future pub pictures:

Beer is still in the primaries and need to take a gravity reading as the telltale "funk on the shoulder of the carboy" is not there. I'll put one on the engine and one on gas and I will use gelatin for the first time to see how that turns out.

Almost as much snow there as we had today (but not quite!) - strangely enough, ours is now refreezing too (-3C outside) - oh joy.

Hope it turns out well - I'm certain that you'll massively outperform the original - the cricket club down the road has it as their one ale and without fail, every time I have had it, it has been truly crap :lol:

Finally an update on the 3B. I picked the recipe because of the ingredients on so I haven't a clue what the real thing tastes like.
As for the result: FANTASTIC! As always, the beer I'll never be able to recreate turns out to be a keeper. Between the hybrid yeast, completely missing the cooling, having a carboys full of break material and seeing almost no signs of fermentation this is a great beer.
Very smooth, slightly sweet with a perfect hop finish, lacing down to the last gulp.
Here's a picture left is from the hand pump, right is on the gas.
