Re: Cooper's Kits
"Bottled Real Ale ? Isn't that a bit of a contradiction in terms?"
Not at all. As long as the beer is live and hasn't had gas or any nasties added it is real ale whether in cask, bottle or goat's skin . CAMRA runs a scheme where brewers are allowed to print "CAMRA says this is Real Ale" on their bottled beer if the Campaign is satisfied that the contents meet all the criteria.

Pul Eeeease!

Re: Cooper's Kits
I just finished a Cooper's Canadian Blonde. Comes out like a light, summer ale. Very nice but you might wish to make it slightly hoppier.
Re: Cooper's Kits
Now on day 3 and is brooding nicely just a light foam now, nice bulge on the FV lid and bubbling about once every 5 minutes.Ditch wrote:
Ahhh, sweet! Must've just been 'Rearing It's Head' then? Left it's mark and sunk back down to brood ~ Darkly.
I'm liking the sound of this!

Sounds reassuringly familiar! Steady as ye go, mate. Be happy

Cheers Ditch.
Nearly finished OG 1055 now below 1010, so about nearly 6% abv. Couldn't resist a little taste and I think I am in love

Re: Cooper's Kits
Just an update to anyone interested the dark ale I put in the f.v on March 1st has just hit 1.006.It was a mix 50/50 extra dark dry malt and demerara. After 24 hours there was very little activity and I was begining to get concerned thinking I,d dropped a bollock somewhere.
Next morning I awoke to find a healthy looking froth on the top
Tastes great already!Think Ill bottle tommorow night and put my coopers master brew i.p.a on with maybe 50/50 ldme and brew sugar

Next time I'm in town, I really must drop by at the wholefood shop. I'm quite sure he can get me some of that Raw Cane, unrefined sugar I like .....

Re: Cooper's Kits
Yep mine finished at 1006 too from 1055 so depending on the caculation you use between 6.3 and 6.5% abv
Now bottled and conditioning had 1/2 pint left over
so had a little sup nice malty flavour with chocolate tones, bit yeasty but it was the bottom of the FV. Can wait until it has sat for a few weeks.

F*ck it! That's It! Next time I'm in town, I'm picking up a couple Kg of Raw! I've had my own 'Dark' kit sitting there for some time now. Life has taught me that, when ever I hold off doing something for an inordinately long time, there's Always a reason for it. Usually just waiting for that gem of new information.
I think I've just come to that information!
Cheers, lads!

Re: Cooper's Kits
Has anyone made Coopers stout with 1kg dsm and one with 500g dsm 500g sugar, if so what differences are there between them? The all dsm brew I did was my best so far, I would experiment but I don't want to be disapointed.

Re: Cooper's Kits
Morrisons do raw cane sugar at about a quid or so for 1 kiloDitch wrote:FFS!rollin danny wrote:Just an update to anyone interested the dark ale I put in the f.v on March 1st has just hit 1.006.It was a mix 50/50 extra dark dry malt and demerara. You're bending my will here!
