brewferm kits
i want to get some brewferm kits going and was wondering, which is the best sugar for these kits, do people use spray malt, brew sugar, tate and lyle or the candy sugar, which gives the best results
Re: brewferm kits
A lot Belgium Beer is traditional brewed with Candy Sugar, which is inverted sugar, and this is what Brewferm recommend. You can make inverted sugar at home, try Google for a recipe. As far as I know the only supermarket sources of inverted sugar are golden syrup, corn syrup and honey, so I used 650gms of golden Syrup in my Diabolo, it went from 1071 to 1006 so about 8.5% abv and even fresh from the fv it tasted pretty good,
Now resisting the temptation for six weeks while it conditions.

I've brewed Brewferm kits with both Candy and white granulated sugar and to be honest I didn't notice any difference.
Both will give good result but obviously granulated white sugar is cheaper.
Re: brewferm kits
ive just done the Brewferm Abdji with just brewing sugar and it tastes superb, tastes like a strong Belgian beer so did exactly what it said on the tin! If you have a search there are a few discussions about Candi sugar on here and for the most part I get the impression its not worth it for these Brewferm kits coz there wont be a noticeable difference, i could however, be talking straight out of my backside coz I havent tried it!!
Itll be grand whatever you chose, these Brewferm kits seem top notch to me ! If you like Belgian beer you wont be disappointed !
