my nogs not clearing
my nogs not clearing
Ive just brewed my first beer, woodfords norfolk nog.
I syphoned off into keg 2 weeks ago and according to instuctions, should be be ready in 7-14 days.
Its still not clear-should i be patient and leave it longer, or can i add finnings to help it clear, and if
so will any finnings do or should i get one specificately for beer.
Please can anyone help, im gagging to get stuck in.

Re: my nogs not clearing
did a nog a couple of christmas' ago with an extra 250g of brewing sugar for that xmas morning kick.
as with all woodfordes kits give them about 6 weeks. its well worth it. don't bother with finnings there is no real need. check it at the fifth week, there will be a difference.

Re: my nogs not clearing
If you're gagging, drink it mate ! I drank my Wherry after 2 weeks, it was still cloudy, but doesn't really matter. Tasted great. It's not VITAL in my opinion to have a crystal clear pint.
Re: my nogs not clearing
did it make it much stronger? I've a Nog bottled, and its been 2 weeks now. how longs best to leave it d'ya reckon?chopperswookie wrote:did a nog a couple of christmas' ago with an extra 250g of brewing sugar for that xmas morning kick.

Re: my nogs not clearing
leave it for 6 weeks. it did make the nog a bit stronger almost stout like and i can remember watching the doctor who christmas special thinking what a bloody good pint!!
Re: my nogs not clearing
6 weeks is an absolute minimum period for conditioning never mind clearing. I've started drinking a Wherry that I kegged 10 weeks ago.chopperswookie wrote:leave it for 6 weeks.
It's now starting to come into it's own. Like nectar.

Re: my nogs not clearing
i did a woodfordes nog for my first beer brew, it has been in the keg for about 8 weeks now been drinking it at all stages but it has really come into its own now, i was really suprised at what a difference time makes to it, but now wishing i had left the whole lot to mature properly
Re: my nogs not clearing
excellent. I am going to wait at least 6 weeks, i'm sure some'll be left for longer than that.jimjamjamie0 wrote:i did a woodfordes nog for my first beer brew, it has been in the keg for about 8 weeks now been drinking it at all stages but it has really come into its own now, i was really suprised at what a difference time makes to it, but now wishing i had left the whole lot to mature properly
Re: my nogs not clearing
as my signature suggested, i was going to wait til Apr to drink my Norfolk Nog.
Went to the shed today, and they were all there, the bottles, staring at me.
I couldn't help it.
Tried a little taster bottle I always do.
Man its good! As everyone says it gets better....I cant wait! But i will
