when using a lager yeast because of the low temps for fermenting is it a good idea to rack the brew off the yeast to a secondary fermenter if it takes over 2 weeks to ferment?
i read before somewhere that its ok to leave a brew in the f.v for about 2 weeks but after that it could get off flavours from sitting on the yeast for too long. after just reading a recipie in the adapted kits sticky i read that someone fermented their lager for 21 days.

You should be fine, i've left a lager in the primary FV for a month before, it tasted great. Racking it off too early can do more harm than good.
Make sure you pitch enough yeast, if you do fermentation should be under two weeks. I would go with 2 packets of saflager properly rehydrated.

ok, cheers for that. in the recipe it says to use two packs of yeast so if i do it i will also use two. thanks.

i have never used a secondary nor do i know about autolysis,enlighten us chris my friend..
