The Coopers Explosion!
Re: The Coopers Explosion!
I bought myself a cooper's stout today, I hope mine ent going to end up looking like something out of that Film THE THING, you know the one, where their all down in the Antartic with this thing, and it keeps morphing, and it looked like that thing in pdtnc's seller!!

Re: The Coopers Explosion!
such a terrible waste.....
i read somewhere that its fine to make up a kit like this with less water to leave more space in the fv for excitement,
then after a few days when its calmed down a bit, top up to the required amount. bobs your muvvers bruvver......

Re: The Coopers Explosion!
It'd need to be a helluva bigger bucket. I'm reminded of the scene in Jaws when Chief Brody quips "You're gonna need a bigger boat".
I finally got my Dark Ale on on Saturday night. Previously, the stout had only pushed lightly against the lid and that was it. 12 hours later the dark ale was frothing angrily against half the lid. At 24 hours I was alarmed to see the lid bulging like a supervolcano and froth oozing out the airlock. I usually stand the bucket in a 1 inch deep tray but was fearing the worst. Cracked open the lid to let the pressure out and had to fight the froth back. Normally the hamster gets the run of the bath at night, but he was evicted to keep the Dark Ale contained. Was barely in the bath a couple of minutes before it was making a break for it. When I checked this morning it was still crawling out the bucket and there was a considerable trail of froth all the way down the bath to the plug. I've been told it's starting to calm down a bit now.

Would that be with his or her cage so it can go back to bed rather than skating around the bath sides?bazookajoe wrote:Normally the hamster gets the run of the bath at night, but he was evicted to keep the Dark Ale contained.

Nah, we give him a little raft for when he's too tired of swimming.pdtnc wrote:Would that be with his or her cage so it can go back to bed rather than skating around the bath sides?
Only joking, he's got his cage, a wheel and a wiggly stick. He probably would've enjoyed the beer though, it's calmed down a lot now, lid back to being firmly shut. Though I was thinking about all the efforts into keeping the bin sealed, airlock, etc. to keep out the nasties, then on a brewery tour recently saw their fermenting containers were all essentially huge buckets, open to the air in the room, and we did see a couple of flies at the viewing window.

werent blandford flies by any chance?

Any of you people Seriously into ye Coopers Stout and, perhaps, seriously having bother with The Blow? Might I just point out that receptacles do exist ~ commercially produced for similar purposes. [/quote]
Something like this ?
They do one for a single drum but maybe that wouldnt contain it

That'll be the things, mate. Though I couldn't get a look at that one. My vile, Vodafone 3G " connection " has decided it's time I read a book till about 01:00
(I'm actively working on regaining Real 'Broad Band', as of today. Watch this space).
Just out of interest; How much are they? I find most things to do with Bunding are silly money. Maybe a kiddies blow up paddling pool would be better?

Re: The Coopers Explosion!
Did a Coopers Stout a couple of weeks ago and as everyone says, it beats the comercial stuff.
Anyway I've just started a Coopers Real Ale kit and it exploides just the same as the Stout.
So my question is, are all Coopers kit as lively?

The darker the Coopers, the bigger the Quatermass effect.
