Just a quick update on my Muntons Milestone IPA.....

Tested today and has dropped to 1014 which I think works out about 3.3% ABV. Not exactly as advertised but not too bad.

Tastes much better with the sweetness almost completely gone and I think it might still have another point or even two to drop as it was still bubbling very slightly. [-o<

All that said, I suspect it will be a Coopers kit I pick up tomorrow to go into FV 2. Not sure how many customers Muntons are losing over this situation, but it really does need to be addressed.

Cheers.

Dave.

I gave up and kegged the smugglers today.

Started 1052 ended 1020 and sat at that for about a fortnight.

I had a sneaky sample while I was transfering and it doesnt taste too bad, not brilliant, but it doesnt taste sweet at all.

I was looking out for burnt rubber tasts and I think I may have imagined more than I actually tasted ( I got the missus to have a sup and she couldnt taste rubber, although she did pull a funny face as she doesnt like beer. )

So hopefully, after a month or too it may still turn out ok.

Who am I kiddin... I will let you know what its like next week,

Hi shandypants.
Looks like I may have a similar problem with a Smugglers. Its been in the Fv for 13 days now and its only just dipped below 1020.
It started at 1052 and bubbled awat very nicely for about 2 days. after 7 days it was at 1025 and appeared to have stuck.
I roused it and waited. at 10 days it was down to 1022. Today it was 1018. Tommorow is 14 days if its 1017 or lower Im Bottling half and Keging half.
I have 3 Coopers kits lined up for my next brews.

Hi Normski, sorry to hear your having problems too.

Welcome to the coopers convert club :D

I think I may try a Brupacks dry kit that Chris recommends soon.

My smugglers is now at 1017 after 15 days. its dropping about 1 a day. i had a little sip while testing and it tastes good. think I'll leave it a few more days before kegging. It may just turn out to be a good one, but a bit on the slow side. I'll just have to learn to have a bit more patience. But these Muntons kits do seam slow compared to Coopers Kits.

Just about to bottle my Milestone IPA.

Finally dropped to 1012 which seems to be about par for the course or slightly better. Should provide a reasonable drink in a few weeks.
