Post by dubboy » Tue Apr 14, 2009 5:20 pm

hi there,
I have been force carbonating a coppers lager in a corny for over a week now 35psi and i have had a pint today and i get a head on it but lager still taste flat.why is this?
Because i haven't got a fridge to put the corny in would i be better in priming the keg with sugar instead?
Also the beer has been in there as i said for over a week and i have had about 5 pints from it a various stages and it is still cloudy and now i am wishing i secondary it in another keg now,so should of i do that instead?
all info appreciated thanks dazz

You've got to get the beer cold so that the CO2 will dissolve in it. As you're not interested in natural carbonation, you could add finings to clear the beer quicker.

i do have anywhere i can put it to get it colder so what your saying is that i need a fridge.
Adding the finnings to the keg is ok yeah

Not sure if anyone else would advise this but I tend to leave mine outside. Somewhere covered from the sun as during the day it hits maybe 18deg C tops and at night its about 6degC, seems to have worked for me. The beer is clearing, getting fizz and the flavour seems to have improved too.
