Never heard of them; let us know how you get on?

Otherwise, The Hopshop UK and Leyland Homebrew are good mixes of range, service and price. Both have excellent service too.

I used them for all my wine making equipment, they were excellent and I shall continue to use them until they let me down, hopefully I've found a supplier for life, good prices and efficient service.

Best I've found so far has been http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/. Good stock and very fast turnaround. Ordered on Tuesday and arrived Thursday morning; the only homwbrew online I've used so far that matches my usual expectation from on-line retailers (ie order before lunch time and have delivered within 24 hours or so).

Hop & Grape were Ok but a little slow in turning orders around - not too bad though (about a week after orders) and are always very helpful on the phone.

Only shop elsewhere when they don't stock what I require.

Hops from here too

I have bought my stuff from BrewMart - seems to be very competitive on price and I couldn't fault the delivery. The only downside is their descriptions are a bit vague.

I tend to use http://www.art-of-brewing.co.uk/

They have been really good plus if you are near you can order online and pick up yourself or have it delivered (I think its free over a certain price) or just pop in and buy stuff.
Both Kit beers (woodfords) I've bought from there have been brand spanking new too with pretty much the full shelf life on the yeast and neither stuck I think maybe as a result.

Why has my criticism of an online retailer been deleted

Have just read the link and that is just disgraceful!
I regret having to do this, but due to threat of legal action, posts including any comments on the home brew supplier ‘Brew-it-Yourself’ will be removed by the moderators. If you have outstanding issues with this company (or any other for that matter) I suggest you contact Trading Standards or Citizens’ Advice.

Although I have only been asked to remove negative comments, I have decided to remove all posts referring to the above company, as removing negative comments only would be unfair in my opinion. Bear in mind that I personally have no way of knowing the truth of any such comments, good or bad, but am still liable for them as the publisher of this website.
Just for the record and without naming names... please read the link that has been posted and note that I have criticised a certain retailer due to poor service. I would strongly recommend that you only purchase from those retailers getting a good review here as ones with a poor record seem to rely on threatening legal action (which they would not be able to enforce by the way This is the defence of fair comment - I am a commercial lawyer by the way [-X )

As BB has said the threat of legal action over fair criticism is just bluster, only slander or unsubstantiated claims would hold up.

On a Land Rover forum I belong to we have a 17 page thread urging the boycott of a parts manufacturer and it's main "retailer" over poor quality parts and poor service, which has remained despite threats of legal action which came to nothing, this is backed up plenty of evidence to prove the case. Obviously these are much larger businesses than a little HB shop.

On the other hand I have actually banned someone from the Cacti and Succulent forum I ran for continuously posting that Ebay and Paypal are crooks and allow crooked dealers to operate using their sites, without providing any evidence to back it up.

IMHO removing legitimate criticism is censorship, however if this is how the site owner choosers to deal with it.......

The policy in place is to remove all references to the afore mentioned supplier, good or bad. Jim and the admins of this site do this as a hobby effectively, we've got day jobs. We don't want/need hassle of legal threats, so when the supplier in question decided to go down that route then we decided that the best action we could take was to deny them the oxygen of publicity, good or bad.

Can anyone recommend a company which ships lower weight items at cost? I only want a couple of packets of yeast I don't fancy paying £4.70 for a courier to ship them. I usually use Barley Bottom but they don't stock Safbrew T-58.

The Home Brew Shop is £2.45 for items under 1Kg if that helps but I seem to remeber someone saying one retailer shipped yeast for free (might have imagined it though #-o )

Quite a few sellers on ebay with free or low postage on yeast.
