Mistake!!
Mistake!!
I've just got a coopers aussie on the go but I made a schoolboy error,
I filled the FV up to 5 gallon mark but when i moved it onto the shelf where i keep it I realised that it must have been on a slant, the result is that i've put about 1.5 litres too much bleedin' water in it. the SG is 1040 so I guess I'm looking at a finished article that's gonna be something like 3.5 - 4%, probably as thin as a glass of water and little chance of a head.
Does anyone like SKOL!!!
Is there anything I can do to it, I've basically bitten the bullet and put the yeast in now but if anyone knows any tricks to 'thicken' it up, I'm open to suggestions.
Cheers

Re: Mistake!!
To be honest I did this with a Woodfordes Wherry and decided not to mess about with it incase I mucked up the flavours further.. In the end yes it was weak Alcohol wise but the actual pint was a decent session beer.
My advice would be to leave it be and see how it turns out. You could add some malt or DSM to it but I think it would be more trouble that its worth.
Some one else maybe able to advise what you can add as I just left mine to brew.

Re: Mistake!!
I'm Happy to leave it, I just thought i'd throw it out there.
might make a useful thread as i'm sure plenty of people will have done his at some point.
like I say, it'll be like SKOL.
or top deck!! lol

Re: Mistake!!
So you've got more beer than you expect but at a lower ABV. The simple answer is to just drink more

Best wishes

If a problem is solved by drinking more beer I wouldn't classify it as a problem.OldSpeckledBadger wrote:The simple answer is to just drink more

I thought it was not fermenting. when I went to work this morning it had about 2cm of foam max on top and looked pitiful but my god!!! it doesn't look like that anymore. these coopers kits 'ferment'

Re: Mistake!!
ha ha, I think I may have to try the clingfilm trick next time, i've got foam all over my towell that the FV ia standing on, it seems to be setting now, bit like expanding foam!! but the FV has settled down now and no more foam is coming out.
How long do you usually ferment these coopers kits for? another couple of days might be enough eh?
I usually like to give it a week on the yeast at least... (catchy little ditty that
