free yeast!
free yeast!
Just got in contact with my local brewrey, said i could have some yeast. just have to collect when they skim it off at the end of the week!
Im from a town called buntingford, its the buntingford brewery but they moved to a bigger location about 7 miles out of town. I only found out about them a day or so ago - its a big world lol. They have a website http://www.buntingford-brewery.co.uk/ Would they use the same yeast for all their beers or have a selection you think?
I should be getting my bottles and bottler in a few days, i can run off a few from my keg and take them along with me.
From the brewery:
I am sorry but we are unable to send yeast out in the post. If you are
able
to collect though, it would be no problem to supply you with some. We
normally skim the yeast at the end the week, so that would be the best
time
to collect, although we can store it for a few days without risk to the
yeast.

Man you'l be given a tour around the brewery before you know it - these guys are all overgrown homebrewers with extra shiny toys to show off

The modern beer factories of the bigger brewers, sorry beer makers, still have to follow much of the above, but they will take shortcuts with the aid of chemicals & enzymes, and fermentation times are greatly sped up. All to save money, and not, as they might tell you, to improve the beer's relationship with your taste buds. Assuming you still have taste buds that is...

I remember having a chat with the brewer from Buntingford about yeasts in the Half Moon in Hitchin. Sadly I was a bit drunk so I forgot most of it. I do recall they'd been trying a bunch of dried yeasts - I think he said they didn't like Nottingham much (the yeast)Totem wrote:Im from a town called buntingford, its the buntingford brewery but they moved to a bigger location about 7 miles out of town.
