I am starting to feel I almost have to brew the Cooper Stout next.
I was just going to buy some dark spray malt which is £3.75 for a 500g bag. I also noticed some Youngs Crushed Black Malt that is only 99p for a 500g bag. Is this something that can be used with kit brewing as a sub to the more expensive DSM? If so, how and what quantities? If not, tell me to not be stupid!

Re: Crushed Black Malt Question
Crushed Black malt is the actual malted grain. It won't add anything much fermentable but you could steep a small amount in some boiling water and add it to the fermenter, this would add a burnt flavour http://www.barleybottom.com/menu/product/&ID=139
You'd still need the Dark Spray Malt for the kit.
