Add spray malt during fermenting?

Post by delta9 » Mon May 11, 2009 10:54 pm

Hi

I've recently start a 5 gallon Geordie Lager kit. Using just water and ordinary (1kg) granulated sugar.

It has been fermenting for 4 days now. To enhance the lager (as i've just read people add this to kits), that I could add some spray malt? is it too late?

I don't know if I can get it soon though, so can add this at the end of fermentation? would it work?
Cheers

You may well introduce infection by stirring in spraymalt (or anything else for that matter) at this point.

No you shouldnt add it now.

People use spraymalt INSTEAD of granulated sugar, not as well as.
If you put in spraymalt now the beer will be too sweet.

I would let this kit finish as it is, and then make up another one using spraymalt so you can taste the difference. :)
