Coopers Bitter Question
Coopers Bitter Question
Having previously purchased my home brew bits online I have just found a corner shop two miles from home that stocks some basic home brew bits. Anyway just popped down there to get a Coopers stout but they didn't have any so I came away with a Coopers bitter instead.
I have a 500G bag of light spray malt and some brewing sugar. Would this kit be good 50/50 spray malt/brewing sugar, or will I be better off picking up another bag of spray malt instead???

Re: Coopers Bitter Question
The guy in the shop recommended this kit. He said it was one of the best bitters he had made...Trunky wrote:I did one with all DSM and I won't be doing one of these kits again. In comparison to their stout this is not very good at all.
Oh well fingers cross! I'll make it up and see how it goes

Re: Coopers Bitter Question
I made this kit recently with 500 grams light hopped spraymalt and 500 grams Tate & Lyle. It turned out fine, especially the last couple of bottles which were nearly two months old. Definitely one for maturing slowly. The initial fermentation was very vigorous, so be warned!
Re: Coopers Bitter Question
I made this kit last month and used I kg of Beer enhancer. Seemed to ferment out very well.
Re: Coopers Bitter Question
i didnt want to say anything bad about it personally, but i did one with bke and wasnt impressed. which is why i said go all dsm.
i reckon the the wherry kits are much better tasting.

Re: Coopers Bitter Question
Ok I have read mixed reviews on another forum that this kit actually comes out very bitter. Adding to the couple of negatives here I am unsure what to do with this kit.
My two options are:
I can buy a second bag of spray malt and go for it. This will involve further cost, and is still possibly no guarantee it will be good.
Or
I can cut my loses and stick with the one bag of spray malt I have and add 500G of brewing sugar, and have limited expectations and hope for the best.
Thoughts???
