Out of Date Coopers Kit
just been clearing the brewing cupboard and found a Coopers Lager Kit that i must have got with my brew kit! Its a bit past its sell by date (15/08/08) although as my sig suggests im thinking of risking it as no home brew in the house. at the moment my consensus is that its vacuum sealed in a tin and will be fine, but if anyone knows better please tell me before i get restless and end up killing myself! (Yes i know its lager and i'm doing that anyway!)

It will be absolutely fine. I've done quite a few OOD Coopers kits with any problems whatsoever.
Some would suggest replacing the yeast to be certain, but that will probably be okay too at less than a year OOD.

That's the spirit Mike! Yeah, just swap the yeast for a fresh packet and off you go. I believe the standard Coopers Lager doesn't use standard lager yeast so an ale yeast may do, unless you have somewhere to ferment that is cold for lager yeast?Mike the pint supper wrote:Cheers guys im off to brew!

Ditch I have heard a rumor that it works only going to do it to a gallon it might be w@nk. I'll let you know.base kit is milestone black pearl as couldn't get any coopers stout! Apparently some guy in ireland has brougt a entire year worth of production! Also planned is a raspberry stout using chambour raspberry liqure as a primeing agent
Well I'll brew up tommorow morning. Thinking I'll make it up to 2gallons with a jar of honey that's also been sitting in the cupboard unopened!
