I recently cracked a bottle of my Wherry for sampling purposes which I bottle in late April. Very nice it is too, but it's a little flat. Now, Mrs Vince helped me out with the bottling and I did suspect that she might not have been putting sufficient priming sugar in each bottle - she was under half a teaspoon on some I spotted!
My question is this. Although I'm not averse to a slightly flatter pint as it's more like pub beer from the barrel, rather than fizzy bottled beer, I'm wondering if it's too late to open all the bottles up and add a bit more sugar....or is this a really stupid idea? It would be one hell of a hassle to do this, and I probably wouldn't bother, but would adding more sugar at this stage give it a bit more life or would I just end up with sweet beer?

fancy blaming er indoors vinceg,i blame our lass for many things but not for under carbonating me brew

Re: Bottled beer slightly flat
Ha ha, my fault for not supervising adequately!! Love her to bits really! So would my idea for re-priming work, do you reckon?
Re: Bottled beer slightly flat
not quite sure mate,i would probably leave it alone and put it down to experience, but if ya gunna re-prime make sure you dont ask the good lady to do it

Re: Bottled beer slightly flat
I've got some WW in bottles at the moment. I didn't bother priming at all and some are fizzy, some aren't. I think yours should be fine - maybe leave them a bit longer. Repriming sounds like a waste of time to me.
Re: Bottled beer slightly flat
Priming each individual bottle is always going to be guess work. I find it a lot easier to mix up 80g (or preferred amount) of sugar into half a cup of water and boil it (to sanitize) let it cool then add this to your brew before bottling mixing it in gently. This takes all the guess work out and speeds up the bottling process!
