Newcastle brown bottles

New to brewing and new to site, so hi all. I bought myself a youngs brew buddy cider starter kit. Aiming to make 32 pints at approx 7%. I do not have a og reading as yet, because starting tonight. fg has to be 998 or less before bottling. will be bottling straight from fv. will be putting level teaspoon sugar in each bottle.
I have read that green or brown bottles are better because of sunlight. This was after i'd collected 76 clear bottles :oops: . They will be kept in the dark anyway.

I was hoping to use sterilised (550) newcastle brown ale bottles (clear). Can someone please tell me if they think this is a good idea, or would I need to get stronger bottles :?: I do not want to mame myself on the first batch. :)

Newcastle Brown bottles will cope with the pressure OK. As far as light is concerned, I'm pretty sure there won't be a problem with cider. The 'skunking' effect caused by sunlight affects the hops in beer - cider doesn't have hops in it.

Newcy broon bottles will be fine,,,any of the 4 for fiver beers you get in the supermakets are fine too,, Hob gob, Speck hen etc,, top of my kichen cupboards are are full of my fine ales

I've got 90 newcastle brown bottles and have used them for the last 6 kits I've done, no problem with any of them.

Thank you for your help. I will be able to sleep easy tonight. regarding skunking, dam glad I got cider. Thanks again :D
