Guys, I'm just a newbie at brewing at the moment, but looking at your signatures, some of you must have 2,3,4 or more pressure barrels with different beers in sitting somewhere cool.
My question is, after secondary fermentation is complete and brew has settled, how long will the 40 pints "last"?
Ive seen a website that suggests 6 months, but not sure if some of you have had stuff you've brewed in a barrel under pressure for longer or not, or whether this is possible.
Ive worked out that I would generally drink around 5 pints a week, so it would take me 8 weeks to empty a barrel, meaning the most I could brew withing a few weeks of each other would be 3 different beers (120 pints) if the six months is correct....
am I right?

The stronger the beer, the longer it will last. Really strong beers, such as the Brewferm ones, should be left for months before you drink them. Session beers are ready to be drunk within a few weeks, but will last for a few months.; That's the theory.
In reality, it depends on your will-power. i find mine are consumed much earlier. I bottle mine, and using simililar calculations to yours (i.e how many I ususally drink), I calculated I'd need 120 bottles to be self sufficient. However, I found that because they were in the garage and available, I drank them. So my estimate of 40 pints will last a month is woefully short of the mark.

Im rather hoping 40 pints will last 2 months... It better, Im on a health kick at the moment

Strength, storage and sanitation are the big keys to shelf life.
If everything was spotless, if you store your beer fairly cool, in the dark and in bottles, anything below about 6% abv will stay good for a year, even after that it can remain drinkable, but may go off a bit. Anything over 6% will keep much longer .
I have heard of HB 10-15 years old still being drinkable. And a cache of beers was found in the cellars of Worthington's White Shield brewery which was still good after 130yrs, this included bottles of White Shield which then was about 6%abv.
Cheers

Beer in a keg will last a minimum 6 months and up to 12 months provided it's covered by CO2.
