Woe with Youngs Kits

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe Young's just hate me, but every Youngs kit (wine as well!) that I've made comes out with a 'orrid aftertaste. The last one I've tried is the brewbuddy cider, which is drinkable untill the third pint. After that the aftertaste rears its ugly head and you don't want anymore!

I've had no problem with any other kits it just seems to be Youngs, which I buy from Wilkos. I've been brewing for about 20 years (mainly wine) so I dont think its anything I'm doing wrong, but you never know!

So has anybody else had problems with Youngs (doesn't seem likely after having a quick look through the forum) or can anybody offer any advice etc...

Have only made the Young's Harvest ales and have had no taste issues - sorry. I'm sure it's not your procedure as you've been brewing for two decades; what specific kits are they?

I made a Youngs Harvest Scottish Heavy a few months ago. I kegged it and it tasted Ok.

I've brewed both Young's Harvest Pilsner and Harvest Yorkshire Bitter with no problems but, my brother has mentioned a similar problem and thinks it could be due to his tapwater being chlorinated. Is the water in your area also chlorinated? Just a shot in the dark.

Could well be chlorinated but,not being a fan of camden tablets, I don't use it. The answer may be in the fact I buy "blue and white stripe" mineral water from any of the big three supermarkets. Give it a go - 2ltrs at approx 20p a bottle and no chlorine.
