Hello.
Is the kit-supplied yeast considered o.k, in the Geordie bitter kit ? On my last one I used Safale S04 instead, but wonder if I the supplied one is reliable. Or is this kit made by Muntons ? I've done a forum search for previous posts, but feeling a bit lazy in ploughing throught search results!
Cheers
Mick .
Geordie bitter kit yeast
Re: Geordie bitter kit yeast
I'm doing a Geordie bitter kit right now, started two days ago. Fermentation with the yeast provided started after only a few hours and is still strong.
Just to be on the safe side I added a half teaspoon of Yeast-Vit to the FV. Also used a beer enhancer kit in place of sugar.

Hi, I've used Geordie Bitter and Geordie Yorkshire Bitter kits for years and have never had a problem.

Re: Geordie bitter kit yeast
The Geordie kit yeast is OK IME but it isn't very floculent. This won't matter if you're kegging (as I did) but if bottling the tighter, more stable sediment that S-04 forms could be an advantage. S-04 also clears a lot faster.
Best wishes
