UUUrghh
Hi all.
Newbie brewer just kegged his first Woodfordes Admirals reserve.
Whatever was that metalliccy phlegm coloured goop in the bottom of the F.V.? Should it even have been there, or should it have gone into the keg with the brew? Whatever it was, it sure smelt good.
O, and what am I expected to do for the next few weeks whilst I am waiting for the stuff to settle? Maybe I need some more kegs eh? I can see why y'all have so many brews going on.
Have one for me!

Re: UUUrghh
You will have to wait or buy some commercial beer urgggggh (or drink it green) I have four kegs and about 400 bottles and I still don't have enough storage for what I want to do.Brupert wrote:Hi all.

Re: UUUrghh
The stuff at the bottom is called "trub" (the yeast). Some people, put a spoonfull of it in the barrell, to help secondary fermentation, but more of an insurance policy really.
Stick another brew on, maybe bottle it into 2ltr PET bottles? Trust me, 1 brew at a time isn't enough. I started this lark a few months ago, and have 2 barrels full, and another 40 pints in the bucket fermenting.

Re: UUUrghh
Thanks for that Mick.
I'm kinda getting the idea that 1 keg won't do....
Just been on ebay & secured acouple 'o KKTTs.
Hey, I reckon I'm turning into a real homebrewer!
Should I start to worry about piling on the weight now? How do you longtime brewers stop from getting portly?

Yes you should.blupert wrote:Should I start to worry about piling on the weight now? How do you longtime brewers stop from getting portly?
You need iron will-power (which I don't have). I started at the beginning of the year, and despite cycling about fifteen miles a day, to work and back and sixty odd miles over the weekend, have still managed to put on a stone.

Re: UUUrghh
you can never have enough kegs!
just bought kegs 5 & 6!
and that's to go with over 120 bottles!

I'm lucky, and haven't put on any weight, yet. I'm 37, so expect the belly to expand any time soon !
Re: UUUrghh
Yeah, watch out for that Mick. You might wake up one morning & it happens all in one go. I used to be able to eat& drink whatever I wanted with no problem at all, now, the more careful I try to be, the easier I pile it on. Maybe I should stop the HB thing before it gets out of control!
Re: UUUrghh
If you're worried about weight, try get an allotment. Or just dig your garden up one a week.
No excercise like digging. I have tightened by belt by a comfortable 2 notches since Jan by working the soil. 2 more and I'll be in the market for a new belt!
