Better get mine on now then :D
I would also recommend a teaspoon full of yeast nutrient to help it on it's way.

Yeah I agree with that Lillywhite. And I always rehyrate my yeast. half a pint of 30 deg water in a 2l pet bottle, Add yeast + half teaspoon of Yeast vit + a teaspoon of any spaymalt I have + an maybe a half teaspoon of sugar. Shake the hell out of it for a minute. then put it somewhere warm for 30 mins while i make up the wort. I always oxegenate the wort too for 10 mins. Give it a good sloshing about. And stir in the Yeast. It's Worked for me everytime now.

Hey Norm,
You seem like a wherry pro already.

considering doing a wherry now people seem to be getting positive results, anybodys opinion about one done with S04 yeast would be appreciated. :D

I made one up in May with S04.

Went from 1.043 to 1.011 and tastes very good, in fact, I was drinking it last night  . It did slow down around the 1.017 mark, but when I bottled it after 14 days, it had reached 1.011. As I always use S04 I can't really say what it's like with the supplied yeast.

Muntons replaced my kit, as last one stuck badly - put on last week, using S04 - started at 1043 ish, currently at about 1014, so I'd say it is working

Bottled my first Wherry there on Saturday. 2 Minikegs and the rest bottles.
How long should I leave this alone ( :? ) in bottles for it to taste best? 6 weeks???

I bottled one and tasted it after 10 days. It's a nice brew but a strong bitter taste................it smoothed out a lot after 6 weeks!

Cheers for the reply trucker,
Wasn't very impressed with the taste straight from the fermenter (2 and a half weeks in primary) when bottling, quite twangy with a very dry finish. I put it down to being young!! I'll prob try a bottle after 2 weeks and see how its goin. See if its transformed a bit!!
Prob leave it then for awhile see how it ages.
