Post by beer » Sun May 24, 2009 10:08 pm

hi all
did the usual bank holiday thing today traipsing round shops and in wilkos i went a bit nuts and decided to buy a edme superbrew bitter to use with some extra dark spray malt ive got that i didnt use on a previous brew . and also 1kg of demerara sugar
i thought lob it all in together with some safeale04 and see what happens then when i got home did think that 1 kg of sugar plus spray malt may be a bit much any thoughts :)

How much spray malt do you have? If you don't have 1 kg worth, I'd just add enough sugar to bring it up to the 1 kg mark.

I don't use sugar, only spray malt, because I've read that sugar can add a thin, cidery tatse to the beer. I haven't tried sugar (except for priming), so I have no empirical knowledge, i just go by the suggestions here. :D

You'll probably find that 1KG of sugar will make the beer drink rather thin even with the spraymalt.
Best wishes

No idea at all, I'm afraid, mate. I dare say I could formulate the basis of an educated guess, if I read enough posts on here? But I don't Bull like that.

I guess, if ye the first person we know to be trying it? There's ye job; You tell Us!
