On my annual visit to Austria for snowboarding, one of my favorite activities is the consumption of Franziskaner -
Back at home though it is imported and costs a bit much.
I've made fairly respectable wheat beers, but nothing that compares to the flavour of the jolly monk.
Does anyone know of a kit that resembles this Bavarian beauty? or any adaptations that come close?
many thanks.
I fancy brewing a Franziskaner, any ideas?
Re: I fancy brewing a Franziskaner, any ideas?
No idea but if anyone has any ideas of how to get something close i will chip in 1xleft arm, 3x fingers from right hand (need one thumb and finger to drink unless i buy a really long straw) and 1x left testacle (the right isn't that good after all the drinking) for the recipe.

After a little Googling I found this.....
Sounds nice
7lb German Wheat
2.75lb German Pilsener
4 oz Belgian Aromatic
2 oz Acid Malt
1lb Rice Hulls
.8 oz German Hallertau Hallsbrucker (3% AA) 60 Minutes
.25 oz Spalt 15 Minutes
.25 oz Perle 15 Minutes
Mash at 150 for 90 minutes
Suggested yeasts are either Wyeast 3638 Bavarian Wheat, or Wyeast 3068 Weihenstephen Weizen, although I am sure some of the White Labs hefe products would work as well.
Suggested fermentation is 7 days in primary, and 14 days in secondary.
