I have just ordered one of these kits - any tips, recommendations or notes?

What does it taste like?

Cheers

I did one. Not at all impressed. Tasted rather sweet almost like shandy.

EDIT: it's final gravity was 1.009 IRC so the sweetness wasn't due to incomplete fermentation.
Best wishes

Hi,

I was given one of these kits....

Would the addition of a dry beer enzyme help do you think?

or maybe the addition of some 'hop tea' (to add some bitterness) ?

Or shall I simply not bother myself with it and brew kits/extract styles I like.... (?)

:)

Many thanks

Guy

Now you've got it, I would just make it up - you never know, you might like it! If you don't, lesson learned, do as you otherwise say...

I've got one in my keg at the moment that I'm drinking my way through. It's a very easy beer to drink I think, not overly hoppy on account of it being a 'session' ale. It is a little on the sweet side, and mine has a definite after taste of bananas, although I read somewhere that might be down to the fact that I fermented it at about 23C, which is a shade too hot.

if it's only a mild taste of bananas, you can cold condition it out in about 10 days in a fridge. I did it recently with a chocolate stout that had a mild whiff of banana off of it.

Good to know, cheers. Now I just gotta find a fridge big enough to fit my keg in...
