Just checked the gravity, its dropped a little, but the yeast head looks a bit minimal... My LCD thermometer strip stuck to the FV says 20 C and its pretty warm in the cellar at the moment so I've not put it in the 20 C cupboard yet.

thanks :) The first of many...

Having a look this morning the FV has a propper Yeast head and is looking good, sample taken last night with a hydro stuck in it is plenty active at 18 C in the cellar :)

Bottled on the 10th July with 50g priming over 12L batch, just short of 2 weeks in the warm (20 C) then its been at about 15-16 deg C in the cellar...
Opened the crown cap to a bit of a hiss but not as much as I'd hoped, this first bottle could do with a little more carbonation but its probably closer to the hand pulled for fizz.
I suppose it needs a week or two more before having a real test, smells and tastes pretty much how I think it should, I hope a couple more weeks crispens it up a bit.

I'd have thought 50g of priming sugars over a 12L brew would have been plenty for pretty good carbonation, I wonder if I should give it another week of warmth @ 20C??

That would be just about 2 volumes of CO2, which should be fine. Just leave it a while.

I have made beers that take ages to get decent carbonation.

Yep patience is a virtue  Having a nice glass to pour into can be helpful as well
