youngs barrel sterilisation

Post by Old school brewery » Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:38 am

I did my first AG brew on saturday and i thnk its gone ok [-o< when i sanitised by FV with youngs cleaning powder it became slippery and took off all my
litre markers on the side! I,m going to transfer this first brew to second FV2 on saturday and have aquired a youngs barrel. I am worried about not getting all the sterilising cleaner out and it killing my brew , any ideas help on this as the hole in the barrel top is also too small to get an arm in. :?: what better product or technique should i use? cheers Liam

I use soda crystals to clean all my equipment a rate of 1 tablespoon to 1 litre of warm water and rinse with plenty of cold water then sanitise with thin supermarket bleach at a rate of 5ml per litre of cold water leave to soak for 20 minutes then rinse 3 times with cold water. I use jeyes brobat bleach 28p for 2 litres at morrissons
