Just an idea at the moment but I've ordered the Amber, Mild and Brown Malts for experimentation whether or not they make it into this recipe is another matter :)

Wouldn't be it be more obvious what effect these malts have if you substituted the MO for each in turn? So what you do is formulate a brew with MO, speciality grains and hop schedule, brew it, swap MO for amber, brew it etc...That way you're only changing one thing at a time.

Thats a fair point, the Amber is also destined for a Caledonian Porter from the GW book that reads like its going to taste good.

Doing some 75% Pale to 25% Amber with a single hop bittering and last 15mins, would teach me more I suppose. :)

Basically you need to make lots of beer. And then drink it :D

a brew a day for a week, then in 6 weeks I can do a side by side taste test ;) :roll:
