Sterilizing plastic bottles that have just been opened

I've just been to Sainsburies and bought 22 1L bottles of Basics Tonic water at 25p each.

My question is...

If I open the bottle, pour away the tonic, and rinse a few times, do I then need to sterilize?

I wonder since obviously once they have the tonic in, they are sterial - if I'm just rinsing them is that going to de-sterilze them?

I would say no

But bear in mind I am

1. Tight
2. Lazy

But I do use lemmonade bottles in the same, but drink the lemonade.
One bottle does two nice large pint glasses.

Then reseal, and just will with beer when I want to use it a bit later
But I am a chancer and the above rules still apply

This is also only ever used for wine or beer that is going to be drunk in the next few days.
Just so I dont have to keep going to the garage.
I would not long store either in this way.
Fermenter(s): Lambic, Wheat beer, Amrillo/Cascade Beer
Cornys: Hobgoblin clone, Four Shades Stout, Wheat Beer, Amarillo/Cascade Ale, Apple Wine, Cider, Damson Wine, Ginger Beer
