Orange Cascade

Post by sam c » Mon Aug 24, 2009 8:29 pm

This was my third AG beer which i did about a month ago. The recipe came from another forum which in adapted slightly as per usual. Sorry no pics for this but i will be taking some in future brew days. This turned out really nice, probably my best so far. Lovely citrus hop flavour complimented by the taste of oranges, light body, refreshing and very easy drinking!

Orange Cascade

3500 g pale malt
325 g caramalt
120 g pale crystal
35 g cascade - 60 min
26 g cascade - 10 min
26 g cascade - 5 min
26 g cascade - 1 min

50 g orange zest - 5 mins
28 coriander seed - crushed - 5 mins

safale s - 05 yeast

19 litres
mashed @ 64 c ( by accident really, but i think it worked quite well )

O.G:1.048 F.G:1.008 - 5.2%

The finished product...ahhhh

to be honest im not really sure what the coriander brings as i dont seem to be able to obviously taste it. plus ive never used it before so dont really know what im looking for.

you can really taste the orange though whichs adds a really nice flavour.

go on brew it. you know you want to

I am but I think I'll make a few alterations. I don't think I have ever followed a recipe exact. A bad habit.

This sounds good, being a Cascade whore myself i think this is going on my to do list to.
Think i may change the corriander seeds for leaves though, as i love the taste of corriander.
