how much suger to use.

Post by fermorandy » Mon Aug 31, 2009 3:24 pm

Hi people, just a quick question from this first timer.. my hydrometer has been reading the same for 24 hours now
it reads 1.010, i started brewing last sat so i think i'm prob ready to put in keg.
can some nice person tell me how much suger i need to put in the keg first .
the brew i'm doing is admirals reserve from woodfordes[ it does say 1/2 a teaspoon per pint,] shall i just go with that ?
or does anyone know a better option. hope someone can advise. thanks in advance. :?

sounds like its ready at 1010. half a teaspoon per pint is right, works out as 85g in the keg, dissolved in a bit of boiled water. :)

Measure out 85grams, mix with some boiling water, let it cool a little and add it to your keg.
A darn lot easier and quicker than using 40 teaspoonfuls :)

four to six weeks before you start on it... or as long as your willpower lasts.

I used 350g for a 40 pint Mexican Cerveza kit. It turn out great, really nice and fizzy without being too gassy. This is probably a bit much for an ale and I wouldn't recommend it in a keg, but for bottled lagers I've found it's worth experimenting :D
