Where can I find a replacement barrel?

Post by Markieboy » Mon Aug 31, 2009 4:33 pm

How's it going? I'm a complete newbie to the world of home brewing and was looking for some advice please! I brewed my first batch (Cooper's Real Ale) last month, bottled it ok and I'm currently enjoying the odd bottle even though I know I should leave it a while longer... Unfortunately my flat flooded in a non-brewing related incident and the fire brigade have obviously used my barrel for clearing up since it's gone missing. I've still got the hydrometer, airlock and the lid but is there a place that'll sell me just the barrel itself to save me having to buy the whole kit again? I live in Glasgow.

Thanks in advance,

Markieboy

Wilkos sell budget barrels. you'll get a basic cap with it, but even if you can find a local HBS that will sell you one without cap Wilkos is likely still your cheapest option.

Unless you mean the brewing bucket, in which case again Wilkos is likely cheapest.

(quick search says they're a bit thin on the ground up there, but there's a branch in Motherwell)
Fermenting: nowt
Conditioning: Headcracker, Brewmaker Northumberland Brown, Brewmaker Export Bitter
Drinking: Coopers Euro Lager, Coopers Dark Ale, Hambleton Bard Amber Export, Coopers Aussie Pale Ale, Almondbury Old, Coopers Stout, Wherry w/Chinook
Planning: BOTW 80/-

Brewmart, Hop & Grape, Ebay. Do a Google search. Strongly advisable to buy a cap that allows CO2 injection too.
