Spray malt or sugar ?

Post by thebloff » Mon Aug 31, 2009 5:57 pm

I am going to purchase some spray malt for my next brew . I have noticed that spray malt seems to come in 500g packs and sugar in 1kg pack . Do i need to purchase 2 packets of spray malt or is 1 pack fine

if you're using it in place of sugar, replace gram for gram. so 2 500g packs. :)

Is there any advantage of using Spray malt over sugar?

yep - its a good way to improve a one can kit. using spray malt will give the beer more body and a maltier flavour, the flavour with sugar can be thin and cidery. alternatively, beer kit enhancer is a 50/50 mix of brewing sugar and spray malt - I've used it with a few brews with good results.

light or extra light. unless you like your lager malty you might be better off using beer kit enhancer.
