Coopers European Lager

Whoops! I started one of these off, but this time instead of using 1Kg dextrose I decided to use some light spray malt, so I used 500g spray malt and 500g of dextrose.

However, perusing the instructions I note this sentence:
"We recommend the use of 1Kg Brew Enhancer 2. Alternatively, 500g light dry malt + 250g sugar / dextrose may be used"

What the hell? I thought spray malt should be used gram for gram in place of sugar? Why only 750g reducing sugars if you use spray malt? Have I knacered my kit, or was I right?

carry on my son,it'll be grand.only problem;I made a couple of these kits during the "summer" using BKE and the beer is most unspectacular-lacks hop bite and even though it finished @1008 it had a mildly cloying sweetness.still -horses for courses- somebody might like love it but I'm sticking to the stout.cheers.

I used 1 kilo of BKE with no probs and it was my 1st kit and It does get better with age.

I have my 2nd lot tucked away where I can't get it so it gets the recommended 3 months.

Only 1 person didnt like my first batch, he reckoned it was too strong everyone else said it was better than the stuff in the local ;)

OK, thanks. I'll stop worrying :)

I think I'm going to do my usual of brewing it in the primary at a cool temperature for a week, rack off into a secondary and leave for 3 weeks before bottling, then leave for at least two months before the liver punishment begins.

That is a long time to not be drinking homebrew though :(
That said, it is getting colder now, so I might get a cheapo pressure barrel and keg a batch of cerveza or similar to leave out in the garage.
