I imagine they are blissfully unaware Garth. Although I am only keeping hold of it untill the dray pick it up. They have been being reminded about it for the past 5 years while it's been sat in the cellar! Although its a long way to come for one ferkin!Garth wrote:looking good lb, nice piccies

It's from norm's Real Ale Almanac here recipe, and the discution is from here if anyone is interested! I decided that since I had an open bag I may as well!ADDLED wrote:Nice looking brew there LB, bet thats gonna be a lovely drop so let us know how it turns out.
The gramme of roasted barley isnt in Wheelers recipe book, where did you hear about using it?
I might try this at the weekend as ive got 2 FVs on the go that i can pitch onto the slurry.
Parva did you use the roast barley in yours?
thanks Nermal! They are the First Wort Hops (FWH). A fair few people on here use this method. I believe (although I am happy to be corrected) that adding some or all of your 90 (or 60 depending on your method) boil hops as FWH gives a more complex hop profile in your finished beer. Like I said, I'm happy to be corrected but it seems to work for me!Nermal wrote:That looks awesome![]()
Might do that for a winter brew - nice and warming
Quick question - why are there hops in the vessel before going into the boiler ?
Thanks for the link - very informative. I think I'll try that when I brew my IPA this weekendleedsbrew wrote: thanks Nermal! They are the First Wort Hops (FWH).
