I've just purchased a book by CJJ Berry - 'First Steps in Winemaking' (2009 edition).
In the recipies eg. page 113 Rose medium, it refers to: Rose petals 2.25 Litres? I don't understand how you can quantify this?
Or, page 159: Elderflowers (not pressed) 500ml ?
Please can someone explain, my partner has a BSC with hons, and she is baffled too!!!
Basically I don't know how to measure 2.25 Litres of solid matter, on first appearance it seems impossible?
Weights & Measures
Re: Weights & Measures
Simples. It's a volume ie however many berries, petals or whole flowers will fit into the container up to the specified amount usually just put in not pressed down. ie a litre jug will hold a litre in volume of berries or what ever. Not sure if they still do anywhere but when I was lad shellfish, like prawns or cockles, were sold buy the pint.
