What do you think of the (relatively) high alpha hallertau types from craftbrewer Mysterio? Assuming they are any good they will work out miles cheaper in the long run if I was to order a couple of packets

This might be a good place to ask a hop question, about 18 months ago York breweries made a one-off beer called (If I remember right) "Lebrowski" with some hops they chanced on from poland. It was one of the best beers I've ever had, unfortonatly the york brewery pubs staff drunk most of it in a week.

I think the name was somthing to do with the hops, does Lebrowski mean anything to any one?

By the way, the beer was commonly known as "The Dude"

They could've been using Lubelski hops which are Polish hops. I'm currently drinking a pale ale using Lubelski and its a refreshing drink.

Hmmm....at least I'm in good company. I've been trying to use some up, but I still have (off the top of my head)

Goldings
Fuggles
Galaxy
Riwaka
Motueka
Pac Jade
Pac Gem
Amarillo
Nelson Sauvin
Green Bullet
Saaz
Lublin
Marynka
Simcoe
Cascade (NZ and US)
Northdown

and probably some others that I can't remember right now.

It's comforting though.

I've only got Fuggles, Goldings and Challenger in the freezer. There's 1KG of Fuggles though which takes up quite a bit of room :D
Best wishes

hi guys this might sound a little stupid but as iam new to full grain brewing i did not know that you can put hops in the freazer, so what is the pro's and cons in putting your hops in the freazer. I don't have as many hops as the rest of you guys but i do have a couple of hhops that iam not overly happy with ie W.G.V hop but caus i used it in my best beer that i have made so far and most likely the best i will ever make, so i can't just chuck that hop out but caus i don't realy use it it will proberly just go off and i will end up binning it any way. :)

Pros- They keep a lot better. Shops should really keep their hops in a freezer but most don't.
Cons- they take up room in the freezer that SWMBO will insist should be used for food.

Tell me about it.. we've just taken half a lamb, so my hops have been relegated to a cool bag in the shed  Nice lamb tho :D

Ah - glad I'm not the only one too!

Goldings (1kg + 240g of homegrowns...)
Styrians (~200g)
and in smaller amounts:
Fuggles
WGV
Challenger
N Brewer
Cascade
Hall Hersbrucker
Boadicea
Progress
Saaz

Luckily I got rid of the 150g of wild hops from last year, so it freed up a little freezer space for me, but a large whack of the goldings will have to go into a big IPA to use them up! :D
